A Little Story: One day, a few years back my Grandma Murphy was visiting my folks and they took her to the quilting Mecca of SoCal. So my Mom sees a bunch of baby quilts and says, they are really cute... when we have a baby I'd like something like that. So Grandma Murphy says, if you don't think it will jinx it I'd like to have you all pick some patterns and I'll make you one. At this point my folks had already been waiting for me a couple years... so my Mom (knowing I would eventually come) said, that would be great. Fast forward a few years and here we are... me and my quilt... finally together!

Merry Christmas!
Christmas sure is fun! Here are a couple of pics of me and my folks. My Dad says I'm his little Elf. Grandma Murphy knit this cool stocking for me. I guess it's a body stocking, because we tried it on my foot but it goes all the way up to my chest... oh wait... what?! Mom just explained that it isn't for me to wear at all but that each year some Santa guy is going to fill it with goodies! I learn something new everyday! Merry Christmas!!!

Guess who I saw...

It's crazy living in Los Angeles ya know? You're walking through the market and you might see Glenn Close or Gwen Stefani... or my Mom's fav... Jo the Super Nanny. Well, look who I saw at the Grove! I told him that even though I've been super good... I am already super blessed and already have everything I want for Christmas... my folks feel the same way.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

A new cozy blanket
Hi, this is a picture of me in my bouncy seat with the beautiful green blanket that my great, great aunt Joyce in Biloxi made for me. I had a fun morning. I went to watch Howard and Reno read Bruce Bruce the Hanukkah Moose and sing the song at a bookstore on Larchmont. There were a few kids there that had never heard the song before and they were totally moving to the beat! It's a catchy tune! Check it out at brucebrucethemoose.com.
I had a video chat with Chris and Bill in Chicago and also with my Grandma and Grandpa in Kentucky. My Dad says it's like the Jetsons... I'm not sure what that means. I like video chats... so look me (or my folks) up.

Daddy Concert
My Dad is a great singer and he writes songs too. He even wrote one for me already. This video is of him singing me one of his songs that I like very much... awww, who am I kidding I like all of his songs very much! I have long fingers like my Dad so I will likely be playing the piano and guitar one day as well. Then we'll have concerts together and Mom will be our audience. Until then I'm happy for these exclusive perfomances that I get before bath time.

Mobile Milestone
Today I am 6 weeks and 3 days old. My parents say that I am really smart for my age and today I proved it by touching and responding (SMILING) to the cool toys that are attached to my bouncy seat. My parents are really looking forward to me realizing that my hands are in fact mine. Sometimes... when I was littler... I would scratch myself or smack myself in the face and then cry thinking "hey, who just smacked/scratched me" and the whole time it was me doing it! Crazy when I look back on it. Also, yesterday Mom weighed me again and I've gain another 1/2 pound... I'm growing so fast!

ELLIOT'S FACES OF ELECTION 2008
Wow, election day 2008! I went to the polls with my folks today and there was a very long line. Some people waited for hours to vote, we were there close to an hour. I heard something about this being a historic election. Well we'll see about that. By the time I can vote for president in 2028 we'll really know how historic it was! Because then it really will be history!
I'm wearing my star-spangled bib today, it's the most patriotic thing I own.

Smiles the real deal...
Happy Halloween! Today I'm dressed in the outfit my Auntie Lynne sent me. It says "Mommy is Under My Spell." How true... I see the glazed over look in her eyes and I know it's true. Some might think that it's just a lack of sleep... the glazed over look, I mean... but I know it's the spell I've cast! We are going to a little Halloween event they throw here at Park La Brea for all the kids. I'm not sure if I'll wear my costume or not... I might! Anyhoo... here is a picture of me smiling. I smile now everyday... the real kind... not the "gassy" smile. I smile at both my folks, it really keeps 'em going, they love me soooooo much!

Halloween Party
Boo... I celebrated Halloween today for the first time. Actually Halloween is tomorrow but I was invited to a party at Mom's office... it was my debut there. Everyone was super nice. Kristen and Dana held me, they are both really good with people of my age and size... even though I was a little ootzy they still wanted to hold me... nice! In case you're wondering I am dressed as a Gerbera Daisy... my Mom made my outfit. We were going for cute rather than scary :0)

One Month Check Up
Today I went to the pediatrician, I call her Doctor Susie. I weighed in at a whopping 7 lbs. even and grew 2 inches! And Dad had to adjust the straps on my car seat to the next biggest setting! I'm growing so fast!
Today's picture is me on my "bearskin" rug in my cute green striped onesie and Mary Jane socks (props to Aunt Lynne and Coni). I'm not quite big enough to do the belly pose so my Mom propped me up. Mom keeps the bear on my changing table because it is so cozy.

One Month B'day
Hello,
Well today I am one month old! Different than being four weeks old as in my previous post. I am exactly 22 years and 11 months younger than my Uncle Justin... his 23rd birthday is today. Uncle Justin is my Daddy's little brother. Happy Birthday Uncle Justin!!! Daddy learned a lot about babies from Uncle Justin because Uncle Justin was born when my Daddy was 14 years old so he helped with bottles, diapers, playing, etc. My Dad says that sometimes when I'm sleeping I remind him of Uncle Justin when he was a baby... even though I'm a girl.
Here is a picture of my Daddy "hands free" so he can work while he cuddles me. I'm that bump on his chest... if you look close you can see my face, I'm happily sleeping.

4 weeks old

Today I am four weeks old! I can't believe how time flies, imagine how my parents feel! Check out these pictures the one on the left is me exactly one month ago at the hospital. Mom's colleague Kelly gave me this cute outfit that Mom thought for sure would fit me as we came home from the hospital... and here it is one month later (photo on the right taken this morning) and now it's a perfect fit. Can you believe how much my head grew... that means I'll be super smart! The outfit is really soft and comfy and my Mom wishes I wouldn't grow out of it (not really because that would be weird).

First Bottle
Wow, well this was a big step... my first bottle feeding. Dad did a great job. Everything went super smooth and I don't have a problem at all switching between the bottle and Mom. I'm really good at sucking and I'm a good eater. My parents told me that I came out of the womb sucking... I guess I was just really looking forward to breakfast after all that hard work of being born. My Mom was looking forward to breakfast too... she had pancakes, I had colostrum. Another interesting factoid about my debut was that I came out "sunny side up." That means I was face up... most babies are face down. The Midwife said that means I'll be curious, Mom thinks it's a sign that I'll be optimistic too. I'm not sure what all that means yet but I have lots of years to figure it out.
Mobile Fun
Here I am checking out my new mobile. It's good for my brain to look at shapes and colors I guess... doesn't matter to me as long as it is fun... and it is! We got this from Tamara, Drew and Jaffe at this rad store my Mom frequents called the Pump Station. Mom goes there to hang out with other new Moms and talk about us babies. I'm really good during the class, I usually sleep right through it... I mean really they are talking about stuff I already know the answers to... too bad we can't talk yet... boy could us babies school them.
Belly button update: As of my bath last night my Mom deemed that my belly button is all done and that it is a super cute inny that looks like a smile.
Also, Happy Birthday to Uncle Doug!!! He's so smart... he won the baby pool and guessed closest to when I'd be born! He guessed the 28th and I was born on the 27th!

Morning Faces
Hi, Mom and Dad call these my morning faces, but basically I go through this little routine every time I wake up which is about 8 times a day (and night). This video actually only catches the tail end of the routine this particular time... missing some of the cuter expressions that I start the routine with... Mom needs to get quicker with the video.

Baths and bottles

Well I've had two baths at home so far... yes we videoed them... and no, the video will not be posted until I (and my folks) have a little more bath experience :-). I did enjoy the second bath a little more though. We are going to start making it part of the night time routine. After my second bath I slept for 5 hours... straight through! I'm a good sleeper I'm told, which probably goes along with being a good eater. By the way Daddy has been feeding me bottles, and I love that... that video I'll let Mom post soon. We love the calls and cards... thanks everyone!!! Sorry if the folks are a little slow getting back, apparently I keep them really busy. I call this photo the "Yoda" photo, the Yoda ears are really my Dad's pinky and thumb.

Elliot's 1st Stroller Ride
I went on a ride in my hot rod stroller for the first time with Mom and Dad. We went up to the Cafe' at PLB (that's what us insiders call Park La Brea). Now that we are officially a part of the "stroller nation" the true stroller Mecca is the Grove... stay tuned!

Girl Power

This is a picture of my girl cousins... girl power! Ashley is in the middle, she was married yesterday. If I were older I would liked to have been at the wedding and maybe even a flower girl... hint, hint Amanda (left) and Jen (right). We haven't seen each other yet in person but they have all sent me love across the miles. I think they are all so pretty.
